ARSEA/APEAL will not be hosting a Christmas Open House this year in order to direct resources to our ARSEA Foundation Silent Auction which will be held in 2026 at the ARSEA/APEAL Convention on September 23 and 24 at the Marriott in Prattville. With more time to browse and more social activities built around the auction, we are hoping to have a much better fundraiser. In the meantime, we know that several of you look to make donations to charitable groups during the holidays.
Please keep in mind that the ARSEA Foundation is a 501c3 and donations are tax-deductible. We encorage you to contribute to the Foundation on #givingtuesday or at any point before the end of December to take advantage of this opportunity. The ARSEA Foundation board voted this year to contribute to the Elderly Nutrition Program (Meals on Wheels) in order to help those seniors in our state who are struggling not only now, but all year long, to have nutritious hot meals.

Please share this with friends who might like to help us contribute to improving the lives of seniors in Alabama.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO OUR ARSEA/APEAL MEMBERS
As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches next Thursday, ARSEA/APEAL would like to share some of the things for which we are most thankful:
We are thankful for your selfless dedication and long careers serving the citizens of Alabama on the state and local government level.
We are thankful for your ongoing membership that helps us protect and, when possible, improve the benefits you earned while an active employee.
We are thankful for your support of our Friends of Retirees and Employees Political Action Committee, which helps elect state, county, and municipal candidates that support our issues.
Our offices will be closed until Monday, December 1st. We are grateful for our members and look forward to serving you through the holidays and in the coming year.

It's just hours away - that meal with family or friends that will blow away all of the hard work you have been putting into eating right. It's a good time to remember the following tips:
Stay hydrated - drink plenty of water.
Make alterations to your recipes to reduce sugar and fat. This can be done without altering the flavor.
Avoid fatty cuts of meat with skin - White meat turkey or chicken is lower in fat.
Limit sweets.
